Voice AI for Intercom & Access Control Across Industries

Rossy AI can be configured for different access environments, from parking facilities and residential communities to gaming venues, warehouses, self-storage facilities, and more. Each workflow can use its own verification rules, caller information, access conditions, and escalation process.

How Rossy AI Answers Your Intercom

How an intercom call travels through Rossy AIA caller presses the intercom, Rossy answers and identifies them, checks the authorized system and applies access rules, then either releases the door or gate or escalates to a person. The path of a single intercom call: Rossy answers, identifies the caller, checks your connected system, and either releases the entry point or hands the call to a person. Either way the interaction is recorded.
24/7

Answers the intercom call

Your intercom calls Rossy AI the same way it would call another configured telephone or SIP destination. Rossy answers the call, greets the person requesting access, and starts the appropriate workflow.

  • Answers configured intercom calls 24/7, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Can handle multiple calls without requiring every caller to wait for onsite staff
  • Recognizes which entrance or panel the call came from on multi-entry sites

Identifies the person and the reason for entry

Rossy AI checks existing systems first and only asks the caller for information that is not already available.

  • Uses existing data when available, without asking the caller to repeat it
  • Asks the caller for missing details needed to identify them and determine the reason for entry
  • Adapts the questions based on the caller type and information available
  • If the details do not return a match, asks for another identifier and searches again before escalating

Applies your access rules

Rossy AI checks the caller’s details against your facility’s access rules, not just your records.

  • Checks bookings, memberships, tenant accounts, delivery schedules or approved-visitor lists
  • Confirms the caller is within permitted access hours and that the account is in good standing
  • Applies your rules on early arrivals, guests, overdue accounts and after-hours entry

Performs the required actions

Once Rossy AI knows who is calling and why, it carries out the action that situation requires, based on your configured workflow.

  • Send the configured DTMF command after authorization on a tested, compatible intercom, or direct the caller to the approved next step.
  • Provides step-by-step guidance, including directing the caller through the facility or to the appropriate location
  • Answers the caller’s questions and completes other predefined actions required for the interaction
on-call staff

Escalates anything it cannot verify

When required checks cannot be completed, Rossy follows your deny-or-escalate rules. An unverified request does not trigger an automated release command.

  • Asks the caller to repeat or provide a second approved detail
  • Explains clearly why access cannot be granted yet
  • Transfers to your on-call staff, manager or security contact
  • Follows your written policy on denial and on emergencies

Records every call and every outcome

Every interaction is logged, so access stops being something that happened on somebody’s phone.

  • Full recording, transcript and AI summary of each call
  • Records what was verified, which system was checked, and whether entry was granted
  • Searchable by date, entrance, caller and outcome

Frequently Asked Questions

Can AI answer an intercom call?

Yes. When a compatible intercom is configured to place its call to Rossy AI, Rossy can answer the incoming call, speak with the caller, collect information, follow configured validation logic, and determine the appropriate next step.

Can Rossy AI open a door or gate?

For compatible telephone or SIP intercom configurations, Rossy can send a configured DTMF command during the active call after the required authorization conditions have been satisfied. The intercom or associated access system then interprets that command and activates its configured relay.

Does Rossy AI directly control the physical door lock?

Not through the DTMF workflow described here. Rossy sends the configured DTMF command during the call. The compatible intercom or access-control hardware receives the command and performs the configured relay action.

What is DTMF access control?

DTMF uses telephone keypad tones or equivalent signaling to transmit a configured command during a call. Compatible intercom systems can be configured so a particular DTMF command triggers an internal or connected relay used for door or gate access.

Will Rossy work with every intercom?

No. Compatibility depends on the intercom and access-control configuration. The system must support the required telephone or SIP calling workflow, DTMF signaling, and appropriate relay or remote-unlock configuration.

Can Rossy verify someone before granting access?

Yes, when the appropriate authorized system or integration is available. Rossy can collect configured information from the caller, check it against the connected source, and apply the facility’s defined access rules before triggering an authorized action.

What happens if the caller cannot be verified?

Rossy does not need to grant access. The workflow can request additional information, deny the automated access action, transfer the caller to an authorized person, or follow another configured exception process.

Can different facilities have different access rules?

Yes. Access workflows can be configured according to facility type, location, caller type, entrance, operating hours, business process, and other supported conditions.

Can Rossy handle intercom calls after hours?

Yes. Rossy AI can answer configured intercom calls 24/7, making it especially useful for facilities with after-hours, remote, or partially unattended access requirements.

Does Rossy keep a record of intercom calls?

Rossy’s call-management capabilities can maintain call information such as recordings, transcripts, summaries, caller details, and outcomes where those features are enabled and legally permitted.

Can Rossy transfer an access request to a person?

Yes. Requests requiring human authorization or situations that fall outside configured automated rules can be transferred or routed to designated personnel.

Can Rossy support multiple locations?

Rossy can be configured for multi-location use cases, with workflows and rules tailored to the requirements of different facilities and entrances where the underlying systems support the intended deployment.
